Mom's Feel Good Moment

hump-day-camel

When your husband is a minister, Sundays and Wednesdays are the two busiest days of the week.  It's long days for all of us... Cody is focused on lessons and getting stuff done with the kids and I'm trying to keep Griff entertained and happy all day long without Cody to come help. I feel like we have two hump days to get through during the week!  As I was counting down the minutes till bedtime last night, I laughed at what all Griff can get away with when I'm home by myself! {which may or may not have included playing on the dishwasher, banging the back door taunting Kota outside and pulling all of my tupperware out of the cabinets. at least he was smiling!}

Last night though, as Griff was pulling out clothes from the drawer I had just reorganized for the sixth time, I knew as soon as it was bedtime, I was going to have to pull out some items to wind down and decompress after my Sunday Hump Day. Here's what helps me to have a feel good moment:

1. a good book

I stayed up way to late last night finishing Swimming At Night by Lucy Clarke.  Such a very well written book and a beautiful story between about the story of sisters.  Put it on your list if you're a reader!

2.  a good manicure

going to the salon to get my nails done doesn't happen much these days, but I feel better about myself when my hands are looking pretty. I love these new fall colors from OPI and can't wait to get my hands on a new color! {even if the weather in texas will still say summer!}

3. a good drink

y'all, you don't have to read long around these parts to know that I love ddp. I thought it loved me back, until I was checking our bank account and saw how many trips to sonic I made over the month. {hum. bul. ing.} in an effort to cut down on that spending, I've picked up a new drink at the store to help curb my cravings. Ozarka® Brand Sparkling Natural Spring Water has the fizz that I'm looking for to remind me of my beloved ddp, but comes flavored so it's more exciting than plain jane water.  I've seen it used in a few recipes, including adding in watermelon. I'll be trying this after my next trip to the store!

4. a good nap

Per above, I stayed up too late reading to finish the story, then proceeded to be woken up by Griff at 2:30, 3:00 and 6:00. Had I only been up late reading, I'm not sure I could have justified the nap, but since G did it, I totally felt good about napping today!

What are some feel good moments to help you make it through your hump days?

  1. This is SO true. Nobody understands the whirlwind that Sundays/Wednesdays are except for other pastors. Wednesdays are our youth worship nights and Jordan is typically gone from 8am to 9pm or later. Nothing happens those days.

  2. I so get you on putting clothes back into drawers more times than necessary! It's like, I get why you want to help, child, but at least reverse the order you take the clothes out!

    I fully re-energize by following the old adage "sleep when the babies sleep" so yes, I nap with my kids too! Here are other ways I can share with my family to get out of the mid-week funk: http://goo.gl/B3F0MH
