36 Weeks

Look Mom... no feet!

Size of Baby: According to Baby CenterGriffin is packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. He now weighs about 6 pounds and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. He's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered his body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected his skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of his first bowel movement, which is gross and cool at the same time, huh?

Symptoms: Definitely feeling very tired and suffering from some swelling. It's like my left ankle decided to expand on Monday evening and I haven't fully been able to get it back down since. Which makes me feel super attractive.  I'm taking it super easy tonight with my feet up in hopes that tomorrow will be better.

I have had some contractions today, which at their height were about 20 minutes apart. Yeah, a little scary! Cody has a big work event tomorrow and Friday, so now REALLY is not a good time for Griffin to decide to come!   Cody and I were also wondering... when do Braxton Hicks become real contractions? Because these, while not unbearable, are definitely more intense than the Braxton Hicks that I first started feeling. I'm hoping that rest and water will help ward off contractions for a few more days.

The last symptom is definitely emotional... I find myself tearing up almost anytime I see a baby now. I can't believe that it's going to be us soon!

Cravings/Aversions: No major cravings right now... I should avoid more foods that I am due to heartburn, but it's hard to know exactly what is going to give it to me so know what to not eat!

Maternity Clothes: Still mixing and matching with both. My sweet momma sent me a great maternity dress from Kohl's last week that will help me through these last few weeks. I almost bought a few tops from Loft that would work for maternity wear, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it knowing that I only have about 3 weeks left.

Sleep: On and off. Griffin likes to wake up at 5 to get his exercise in, which means that I am also waking up at 5. I am definitely looking forward to hopefully sleeping in this weekend!

Highlights Of This Week:
- We had a great shower with our Sunday school class this weekend and got a lot of necessities for Griff. While I still need to unpack it, I feel {mostly!!} prepared for his arrival!

- My mom came into town for the shower and spent several days with us, going to doctor's appointments and spoiling me by cooking and cleaning the house. Of course it never feels like we have enough time when she's here, but the next time she comes into town will be for Griffin's arrival!!

- I had 3 great doctors appointments this week. I'm holding tight at a 1, Griffin is looking good and my cardiologist is happy with how I'm doing and we put together a game plan for my labor. Now we just wait for the big day!

Funniest Dream Of This Week:
-  I don't think I have any memory cells left to remember my funny dreams at this point.

Looking forward to:
- Enjoying these last 3 weeks!
