Fake It Till You Make It Monday - It's All In The Attitude

Yes, after 4 days cooped up in the same house with a hyperactive husband dog, I'm already ready for another one today. Apparently I could handle to be independently wealthy so that I could stay home all of the time.

So for today, FITYMI is all in the attitude ~ a cheerful smile, a cute outfit {one of the first since the snow hit!} and the right attitude will get me through the first day back! {And it will help me to keep thinking positively that we might get another one... eventually!}

WIWW Third Time's A Charm

Welcome back! I'm bundled up in comfy clothes today... Texas was hit with a HUGE Winter storm and we got 6 inches of snow... plus two snow days! There's no greater feeling than knowing you have a free day at home :) Here's this weeks outfits:

Saturday was a lazy day... one where you don't get out of your pj's till you leave to go eat dinner. No pics of that gorgeousness. Sunday I just forgot.. oops!

Yep. I stayed in my pj's all day. It was wonderful. We are lucky enough to get another snow day tomorrow! Maybe I'll change into a new pair of pj's... no promises though :)

I *loved* this outfit! I bought this skirt several months ago, yet I've never quite worked up the confidence to wear it. I've tried the skirt on several times to wear it out, but the combination of the bold pattern and form fitting {is that a nice way to say it's tighter than I normally wear stuff? :) } have kept me from following through with wearing it.

Last week, on a total fluke, I was hanging up clothes in my closet and happened to stick the sweater by this skirt. That's when I realized what the skirt was missing: I needed a looser shirt to make up for tightness in the skirt! I originally just planned on wearing it with a cami underneath, but then found the denim shirt at walmart this week and knew I shouldn't pass it up. {I missed out on the memo that a denim shirt was going to be back in style. After seeing them on several fashion blogs I put it on my want list. And for $7, I knew I could fulfill that want!} When I tried the outfit on with the denim shirt, it just felt complete. It definitely has a different vibe than what I normally wear... maybe it was layering different textures than what I'm used to... I'm not really sure what was different but wearing this outfit definitely boosted my confidence and kept me feeling great about myself all day long!

Welcome to a new event I'm starting around Life At It's Finest!

"Fake It Till You Make It" was a phase my mom helped me coin way back in the day {I feel like it's appropriate to say way back in the day when I think about how long ago I was in high school!}

It's a relatively simple concept: when you're facing a situation where you don't feel confident, fake it till you make it! Now, most of my "fake it till you make it" moments have revolved around fashion. While some of it has been wearing bolder outfits, makeup or hair, there were many times during high school and college where my "fake it till you make it" moments were just plain faking confidence in myself and hoping it really would follow suit.

Off the top of my head, I really can't think of a moment when FITYMI failed me. The funny thing is, when you fake being a very confident person, people can't tell you're faking it. They really think you're a confident person! The majority of the time when I'm using the FITYMI, especially for fashion, I end up getting several compliments, which in turn, really boost my confidence!

I've really enjoyed getting into The Pleated Poppy's What I Wore Wednesday, but I wanted to challenge myself a little more so I decided to implement Fake It Till You Make It Monday! Every Monday I am going to challenge myself to wear an outfit that pushes me outside of my comfort zone. I'm not doing this to fish for compliments, but rather as an exercise to stretch my confidence, which I believe in turn will actually grow my confidence. I've made a mental decision that 2011 is going to be a great year and that the Lord will do some big things in the coming months, and I want to make sure I have the confidence to keep up with what He's going to do!
