Life Lately

Griffin will be 16 months next week and he's at such a fun stage. One of my friends who recently became at SAHM summed it up really well when she said, "People ask me if I'm surviving being a SAHM. I like to say I'm thriving!"  Truly I feel like we are thriving together and I am so thankful that I get to spend my days with him. Don't get me wrong, we still have our days, but the good far outweighs the bad!

Here are some things G is up to:

      - He loves to feed himself. All meals take place with two utensils, one for G to use and one for us to feed him with. While it's a messy process, he's actually pretty good with a fork and spoon. Luckily he is happy to be feeding himself so that we can use our utensil to get the food into him quicker.

     - He LOVES to be outside. The recent ice storm we had was brutal because it kept us inside for so many days. Griff does better when we can go "wonder the great outdoors" (aka the front lawn and the lot next too us!) Today we spent about 30 minutes walking up and down the stairs and the sidewalk. I kept trying to get Griff to come in for a snack and he would push the door closed.  It was also the first time that G was able to stand, hold my hands and walk up and down the steps.  It is fun to see him learning and growing up.

-Currently he is saying the following words: Momma, Dada, Puppy, Koda, Hi, Bye, Juice (uice) and can sign: more, eat, drink, please and thank you.

     - It is super humbling as a parent to watch your child walk around the house, walk up to different items and go  "No! No!" Let me tell you, it's hard to keep a straight face!

     - When we are home and on our normal routine, he is still taking a morning and afternoon nap, going to be around 7:30 and gets up between7-7:30. There's a selfish part of me that wishes he would sleep later, but I know that I'm just getting greedy with that!

     - He's finally in 12 month pants, (he just outgrew the length of his 9 month jeans!) 18 month shirts, weighs 22 lbs 8 oz and is 30 in tall.

     - We're working on being gentle with our friends, as sometimes the only way Griff knows to express his love and excitement is to grab your clothes and shake!  He does love to give hugs and kisses to Cody and I, which will truly just melt your heart.  He's also started tickling everything, from us to the laundry you may be folding, to Kota and even himself. Totally adorable and you can't help but laugh when he comes up to you.

Here's a little something extra for you... I had an ugly Christmas sweater party with my Pokeno girls Tuesday night. Don't you love my 90's mom look? :)
