Give me a break!

Every year students at HSU whine and complain when we don't get Labor Day off, but to make up for it we get a Fall Break in October. Today was finally that day, and once I am reminded that Fall Break comes exactly at the right moment.

I planned on sleeping in this morning, yet when Cody woke up at 8:15 I was surprisingly rested and ready to get up. If you know me, you would probably think I was sick because as soon as I got up for the day I started sorting the laundry that needed to be done and cleaning out our closet. I KNOW. I told my mom about it and she was practically in tears because she seriously thought this day would never come. And if I'm honest, I wasn't really sure that I would ever enjoy the process of cleaning, but I do love having a clean house. It's amazing that when you travel all week and have busy weekends, the thing I look forward to the most is having downtime so I can get the house clean. Lordy, I'm becoming an adult!

After getting a fair amount of laundry done, I set down to find some recipes to cook. I have just recently discovered Campbells Kitchen Online. They have some great recipes online and seem really easy, which is what I need! My goal is to make 3 meals over the next week. Tonight I made the Miracle Lasagna, and it turned out really good! I added meat to the recipe for the sake of Cody. I also bought some of the Pillsbury Italian bread that you actually bake in the oven. It was a nice touch to have a fresh bread that I "cooked" :) The meal only took about 10 minutes for me to put the lasagna together, and then it just cooked for an hour while I did more stuff around the house. For any non-fancy cooks who want a simple but good meal, this is definitely a great meal and will be a go-to meal in the neinast household!

For the majority of my break today I worked on fall crafts. I am definitely excited about what I’ve done. Here are some pictures for you!

This is a project that I’ve seen on friend’s blogs that is originally from Joys of Home. I just took the idea and tweaked it for Fall.

These next ideas were not mine either, yet I cannot remember where I found them online. I wanted to do big pumpkins for our front porch, but I didn't need to buy 3 big pumpkins (you know, so it will look even!) so I went with a batch of small pumpkins instead.

I actually got a family member's Christmas present today! Obviously I can't post it, but I think it will be a hit. I definitely think Christmas is going to be our biggest adjustment. Not only because of the whole, what family on what days for how long juggle, but also because of the financial side. Cody and I are doing well to live within our means. We can pay all of our bills and currently have enough money for each month, but we also don't indulge in a lot of shopping or activities that cost a lot of money. So right now I am working on changing my thinking to Christmas within our means. This will be the first year that I can't buy whatever I want to get for my family members and it's a hard pull to swallow. So if you have any creative cheap Christmas presents, send them my way!

ok, I'm off to go work on my craft projects. I can't believe it's only 7:40... I'm exhausted!!
